This fall has been busier then I had expected, and as a result, the blogging here at Adventist.io has been light. But be assured, that work has still continued on.
We have been working with many organizations as they prepare to roll out new ALPS-based sites (more on that in the near future) and we have been working hard behind the scenes to get the tooling ready to make ALPS easy to adopt and adapt for sites.
One of those projects has been to create an implementation of ALPS in WordPress. And while anyone can make a theme, we wanted the ALPS version of the theme to be robust and flexible, able easily host a church website, or powerful enough to host a large site, like Adventist.org.
Testers Needed
I’m excited to say that we are in wrapping up the initial development work on the WordPress theme, and we hope to have it publicly available soon. In order to test it, however, we need some help. Who do we need?
- Administrators of existing WordPress-based church sites
- People thinking about using ALPS and WordPress and want to set-up a site from scratch
If you want to help, just send a note through the comments and I’ll be in touch.
Remember, this is beta software and should be treated as such. Don’t try it on your live site!
Note: The theme has been released and is available to download.

I’d be happy to setup a special website for testing of the new ALPS for WordPress.
I would like to test the new ALPS for WordPress on my church website
I’m happy to help for testing the alps as before it release i already try it in my development env 🙂
I would like to test the new ALPS for WordPress. Is joomla on the roadmap too?
Joomla is not on our official roadmap, but we have a division who is developing a version that we will share when it becomes available.
I would like to test ALPS for WordPress on our District website. I’m from Brazil.
Would be glad to test it from scratch for our church.
I am already running it live on our church website.
Where is the download link for the theme?
Hello and sincere congratulations for the unified vision, which will definitely help local Churches worldwide. I would be glad to test it, in sandbox as well as live on some personal subdomains. 8 yrs. of WP experience (theme development, graphics, other elements etc.) Best thoughts!
Sounds interesting. Can you let us know when it will be available? Thanks!
Certainly will!
What’s the official / latest colour palette for the Adventist website theme? I see Adventist.org using a blue theme (#2f557f), but the framework uses a muted aqua (#438390).
One of the great things about ALPS is that we included 7 different primary color themes and 2 secondary colors, as well as a dark variant. Is we outlined earlier in “OKR 2: Allow for customization and individuality“, one of our mains goals is to offer customization options within a standard system.
You can play with ALPS and it’s color options yourself, too.
I’d like to test the WordPress theme as well, starting from scratch.
Any more info on testing ALPS for WordPress?
I would be happy to help!
I would also like to test the new ALPS WordPress theme for our SDA church. Please get in touch with me.
@Simone Stingl, ALPS for WordPress has already been released
We’d love any feedback you have, although the beta is done. Download the final theme here: https://www.adventist.io/themes/wordpress/
